Ferrous means iron, and ferrous metals contain iron (hence the name). The two types of ferrous metals that scrap recyclers buy are steel and iron. Visit our

Nonferrous metals include copper, aluminum, tin, brass, silver and gold.
As opposed to ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals are not magnetic and do not rust. So if you want to find out what you have, test using a magnet, and check for rust.
